When my friend Matt broke up "our" band, he just walked away, didn't tell me why. Turns out he got signed by The Neptunes...and it also turns out that he's been talking me up to anyone who'll listen, so I've been asked to send in a demo tape of vocals/beats. It's hard not to get excited right now, trust me.

BTW, School of Rock=must-see if you're a Jack Black or Tenacious D fan.

Underworld is definitely of the style over substance school of film. It's not bad at all, and Kate Beckinsale is never hard to look at, but the movie was just lacking something. A cohesive plot, maybe?

Well...lotsa interesting stuff happening lately. Bowed out of a major event that someone who I've come to consider a friend was having so drama could be avoided. Spent six hours talking a friend out of doing something drastic and dreadful and trying to get her to make sure a divorce is what she wants. Started taking singing lessons and was told that all I really need to learn is breath control...which is nice, cos the song I sang to demonstrate was I Miss You by Incubus. Definitely not the easiest song to sing. Also sang For Me This is Heaven by Jimmy Eat World and was told I've got good range...and it's nice to hear that from someone other than my stepmom (who is actually a respected choral singer herself). Going to go see Underworld tomorrow and going to see a sneak preview of The School of Rock on Saturday...I'm a Jack Black/Tenacious D fan, so it's a must. My reviews will be posted here, of course.

Undecided on the move at the moment...I know I want to, but my grandparents will be in a better position to pay for my schooling in the spring, and my transmission blowing up on me wiped out my savings. It'll probably wind up waiting till spring anyway...and it looks like it'll probably be Kenner or Metairie...my friend and I both know people there and there's more of a variety of schools there, too. I've got an offer to be a store manager at a Blockbuster in the NO area as well as an offer as a support manager at a Wal-Mart there. It'd be good money and I'd be able to get a better car as well as having a decent place. I'm more tempted to take over the Blockbuster...I'd get to set my own hours (very conducive to continuing schooling and my "having my own band" aspirations) and I'd be able to...you know...have power and stuff.

BTW, everyone should listen to this song: Bring Me The Disco King (Loner Mix) - David Bowie featuring Maynard James Keenan & John Frusciante. Awesome song.

Been watching Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers a lot lately...so much so that I know every line. I'm awestruck by how good the acting/casting is. I've never been a fan of anything to do with Tolkien, but I can't help but be impressed by these movies. Simply put, they're breathtaking. FotR and TTT are two of the best movies I've ever seen...if Return of the King is as good as the first two, it'll be the greatest trilogy in film history. Seriously...wow. And this is coming from a huge fan of the original Star Wars trilogy. And c'mon...who's a better villain than Christopher Lee?

Random interesting tidbits: Peter Jackson's first American film was The Frighteners...like the LOTR Trilogy, it was filmed in New Zealand (beautiful country). Brad Dourif (Grima Wormtongue) was the voice of Chucky in the Child's Play movies. The role of Legolas is Orlando Bloom's first movie role ever. John Rhys-Davies plays both Gimli the Dwarf and Treebeard the Ent. Before playing Aragorn, Viggo Mortensen was relegated to supporting roles in movies like Crimson Tide and The Perfect Murder. And of course, Hugo Weaving (Lord Elrond of Rivendell) also plays Agent Smith in the Matrix movies.

Fun times...got to really listen to the APC album and I have to say that you definitely feel Maynard's influence on this one more than Billy Howerdel's. It can be a good thing or a bad thing, but I think Mer de Noms was a stronger album as a whole. Still getting into the Underworld soundtrack and I'm really digging the David Bowie w/ Maynard song. For some reason, it just works.

Amanda sent me an email the other day. First time in months I've heard from her and I'm not really sure how to respond, to be totally honest. She's at school, which means I won't get to see her for like another four months, so I have to ask myself if it's really all that imperative that I keep things going with her or do I just wait till she gets done and start fresh with her.

I got sexually harassed at work last night, too...one of the female managers (who actually looks quite good) told me she'd give me a quarter if I'd bend over and pick something up in front of her. Both flattering and offensive at the same time...gotta love that.

I'm talking to GonzO about giving me webspace and switching to moveable type...more on that when it comes around, and I'll post a redirect URL here.

Picked up the new APC CD and it's really, really good. No whininess in Maynard's voice at all on this album. I have to admit I like the Tilling My Grave mix of Weak and Powerless more than the normal version, but that's not much of a surprise. I think I'll have to see about going to see them at Voodoo on 11/2...since my brother wants to go to see String Cheese Incident (he's gotten a thing for jam bands lately). I've gotta go pick up the new Neptunes CD when I find it...good stuff, and Pharrell lists Queen as one of his big influences, and if you listen carefully to his music, you can tell.

Picked up the Underworld soundtrack...probably the best one I've heard since The Crow soundtrack came out. Aside from a lot of hatred/stupidity directed toward me (apparently), not a whole lot going on.
